Materials and Equipment Grant
Purpose: To allow programs with a demonstrated need to apply for funding that will purchase materials/equipment through Child Care Aware of ND’s preferred vendors.
Who Can Apply: Programs receiving coaching in pursuit of Step 2 of Bright & Early ND.
Proof of Demonstrated Need (must be completed before applying): Score of less than a 4.0 in Practice Observation on a Sub-Scale or Item within the summary report provided by Bright & Early ND. Or a completed Environment Self-Assessment appropriate to setting type. Self-Assessment needs are considered when more than 50% of the items in the self-assessment are not met.
Complete application for Bright & Early Step 2 Grant
The application can be requested from a Child Care Aware Quality Improvement Coach that was assigned to you upon entry to the Bright & Early ND Step 2 cohort.
Complete a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
QIP will be used to show demonstrated need. It must be verified by a coach and submitted with application.
Be an active Bright & Early ND Step 2 cohort
Working with a Child Care Aware of North Dakota coach
Applicants are applying for materials/equipment to satisfy a need to improve their early childhood environment based on the Environment Self-Assessment/Preliminary observations provided by Bright & Early ND. Materials/Equipment needs will be identified in conjunction with your Child Care Aware of ND coach. Materials/Equipment need to be purchased from the list of preferred Child Care Aware Vendors. The preferred vendors are Kaplan and Lakeshore Learning.
Programs can apply for grants based on their DHS License Type/Amount of Children Served (See Chart Below)

Programs will apply by completing on line application to Child Care Aware of North Dakota. The application can be requested from a Child Care Aware Quality Improvement Coach that was assigned to you upon entry to the Bright & Early ND Step 2 cohort.
Your coach will need to verify a completed and accurate Quality Improvement Plan in order receive access the grant application. Quality Improvement plans must be verified and signed by the programs Child Care Aware Coach.
Applications will be reviewed on the 15th of the each month and awards will be determined by the 1st of the following month.
Upon Award: Purchase will be made using Child Care Aware of ND’s preferred vendors using Child Aware of Purchasing Process. CCA ND coach will supply the program with a copy of the Purchasing Process document and a Purchase Agreement.
